UCLAxFilmFest announces official film selections for 2021

Sixth Annual Festival presented by UCLA Extension’s Entertainment Studies August 27 to August 29

LOS ANGELES, August 9, 2021 / PRNewswire / – To celebrate talented new filmmakers from around the world, UCLA Extension’s Entertainment Studies Program will hold its sixth annual UCLAxFilmFest on August 27-29, 2021. Sponsored by FOX Entertainment, Final Draft and Chemical Wedding, the virtual film festival celebrates a selection of outstanding short films, features insightful industry panels, provides networking opportunities and concludes with an awards ceremony.

This year’s “Imagination”-themed UCLAxFilmFest is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

“The annual UCLAxFilmFest is an opportunity for our local and international film community to come together and celebrate the achievements of our talented students and alumni,” said Pascale cohen-olivar, Director of Arts at UCLA Extension. “The Entertainment Studies Program is a true incubator for talent around the world, we nurture emerging artists and diverse voices. With many of our students pursuing successful professional careers in the entertainment industry, the Festival of the film provides a place to showcase and share the best work of students and alumni. “

The UCLAxFilmFest Awards will be presented in the following categories: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Unique and Artistic Film, Best Film Made Under COVID-19 Pandemic Restrictions, Entertainment Studies Award, and People’s Choice Award . The 2021 festival judges include extension instructors from UCLA who are award-winning filmmakers, screenwriters, directors and directors. Hollywood experts in film business.

“In a year where filmmaking has faced challenges due to restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is a joy to see the powerful work produced by an incredible talent pool of students of the Entertainment Studies program, and to share their work with an audience, ”Cohen-Olivar said. “The shorts also celebrate the disciplines of film offered at UCLA Extension – which connect working artists and professionals with instructors who are active and recognized industry leaders.”

This year’s roundtable will focus on using your short film and the film festival experience to help you start a career in the film industry. Entitled “Use Your Film Festival Experience to Launch Your Career,” the session is led by a renowned filmmaker, marketer and distinguished instructor from UCLA Extension. Kim adelman.
