Summer Movie Maker Mixer – Fox21Online

DULUTH, Minn. –The Upper Midwest Film Office held a Summer Movie-Maker mixing event at the Caddy Shack Pub on Tuesday.
Members of the film crew, those creating projects, or even people who just want to learn more about the industry showed up to the occasional mixer tonight to enjoy the conversation and drinks.
The event was a way to connect people from the region or interested in the industry by discussing current and upcoming projects.
“There are so many projects going on, big projects, small projects, we need a lot of team. We need people to know each other and you never know what comes out of a random conversation. So , there’s a lot of kismet going on,” said Shari Marshik, executive director of the Upper Midwest Film Office.
With all of the potential projects coming out of Duluth, the Upper Midwest Film Office is hosting workshops that train people to enter the industry as demand for crew members increases.
“It’s important that our workforce grows because there’s a lot more business coming our way and we need people to work on those teams. So it’s a good opportunity to find out more, it’s a good opportunity for our team members to meet maybe people who have worked on other projects,” said the production manager, Riki McManus.
The next Summer Movie Mixer will take place at Tom and Jerry’s in Chisolm on August 9th.
