Shakespeare’s Royal Company Richard III to receive British cinema broadcasting
The production stars Arthur Hughes, the first disabled actor to take on the title role in the play at the RSC.

The Royal Shakespeare Company of Stratford-Upon-Avon has announced its production of Richard III will be shown in cinemas in the UK and Ireland, as well as in Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man from September 28 to October 8.
The production stars the previously announced Arthur Hughes as Richard III, the first disabled actor to take on the role in the history of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Performances began June 23 at the Royal Shakespeare Theater and will run until October 8.
Nicholas Armfield, Micah Balfour, Oscar Batterham, Claire Benedict, Kirsty Bushell, Sophie Cartman, Callum Coates, Simon Coates, Matthew Duckett, Will Edgerton, Minnie Gale, Ashley D Gayle, Conor Glean, Ben Hall, Olivia join Hughes in the cast. Onyehara, Thom Petty, Joravar Sangha, Eloise Secker, Rosie Sheehy and Jamie Wilkes.
Director Gregory Doran leads the creative team which includes associate director Aaron Parsons, designer Stephen Brimson Lewis, lighting designer Matt Daw, sound designer Claire Windsor and combat directors Rachel Brown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown . Music is by Paul Englishby, movement is by Siân Williams and video is by Leo Flint
Shakespeare’s history play follows the rise of the ruthlessly ambitious Richard III to the throne during the Wars of the Roses, and the schemes he is willing to pursue to achieve power. But the higher the climb, the harder the fall.
