Hollywood studio Paramount Pictures announced on Saturday that it will distribute superstar Aamir Khan’s next film Laal Singh Chaddha in foreign markets.

Led by Khan, the upcoming dramedy is an official remake of Tom Hanks’ 1994 blockbuster Forrest Gump.

The Hindi version is directed by filmmaker Advait Chandan and adapted by famous actor Atul Kulkarni. It is produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Aamir Khan Productions.

In a statement, Mark Viane, president of international theatrical distribution at Paramount Pictures, said they were thrilled to release a milestone film like Laal Singh Chadda to audiences around the world.

“We are delighted to partner with V18 and Aamir Khan to bring Laal Singh Chadda to audiences around the world. This account of the Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump is truly something special and we can’t wait for fans around the world to experience this eventful film,” Viane said in a statement.

Marc Weinstock, president of global marketing and distribution at Paramount Pictures, said Laal Singh Chaddha will present the culture and history of India in a unique way.

“Like the original classic Forrest Gump, this film is full of heart and hope and universally related themes. We can’t wait for audiences around the world to meet Laal and experience India’s culture and history through her unique lens,” Weinstock added.

Also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya, Laal Singh Chaddha is set to release worldwide on August 11.
