Opera House Cinema Series to present ‘Queen Bees’ | News, Sports, Jobs
The next film in the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center film series is the Comedy “Queen bees”, with Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn.
It will be screened on Saturday and Tuesday July 27 at 7:30 p.m.
Rick Davis, executive director of the Opera, notes that “As per state guidelines, all COVID restrictions have been lifted for the opera, except that unvaccinated people are required to follow CDC guidelines, which call for wearing masks at indoor events and at maintain social distance. ” He adds that “Anyone can, of course, choose to wear a mask at their own discretion. “
While her house undergoes repairs, Helen (Burstyn), a fiercely independent senior, temporarily moves into a nearby retirement community. Once behind the gates of Pine Grove Senior Community, she encounters vigorous widows, fierce bridge tournaments and a hotbed of bullying. “bad girls” (Margret, Jane Curtin and Loretta Devine), whom she hasn’t met since high school, which leaves her yearning for the loneliness of home. But somewhere between flower arranging and water aerobics, Helen discovers that it’s never too late to make new friends and maybe even find new love.
Rated PG-13 for suggestive material, language and drug use, “Queen bees” lasts one hour and 41 minutes.
