John Travolta’s thriller about to leave Netflix

One of the many films leaving Netflix in late January is The general’s daughter, a 1999 mystery thriller starring John Travolta. The Paramount Pictures film stars Travolta as Chief Warrant Officer Paul Brenner, who investigates the sexual assault and murder of a general’s daughter. It was based on the 1992 novel of the same name by Nelson DeMille.
The general’s daughter will be leaving Netflix on January 31. However, the movie is also available on Paramount +. You can also rent it from most online movie retailers. Paramount also recently released the movie on Blu-ray, so if you like the movie, you can have it in your library without worrying about leaving the streaming platforms. Other Travolta movies available on Netflix are Hair spray (2007), From Paris with love (2010), Savages (2012), and In the valley of violence (2016). Travolta also plays in The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story (2016), which is still available on Netflix.
The general’s daughter was produced by Simon West as an extension of Air conditioning (1997). The script for the film is attributed to Christopher Berolini and Oscar winner William Goldman. Paul Brenner of Travolta is an undercover military investigator who tries to break illegal arms deals at a base in Georgia. After the death of Lt. Gen. Joe Campbell (John Cromwell )’s daughter, Brenner decides to investigate the murder and must work with someone from his past, Chief Warrant Officer Sarah Sunhill (Madeleine Stowe) to go to the merits of the case. Also on the bill are Timothy Hutton, Leslie Stefanson, Daniel von Bargen, Clarence Williams III and James Woods.
When the film hit theaters it gave Travolta another decent-sized hit on his resume grossing over $ 149 million worldwide. However, it was not a hit with critics. It only has a fresh 22% review rating and only a 46% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Roger Ebert, however, gave the film 2.5 / 5 stars and praised the actors for their performances. His main criticism of the film was the graphic death of the general’s daughter. The movie was rated R for a reason.
Travolta’s next film is city ââof paradise, which will mark his first collaboration with Bruce Willis since pulp Fiction. The film began production earlier this year in Maui, Deadline reported in May. The film stars Willis as a bounty hunter seeking revenge after the Hawaii-based hub played by Travolta kills his father. Praya Lundberg will also star. Corey Large, who has produced several recent Willis films, written with Ed John Drake. Chuck Russell directs. This is one of 10 Willis projects in various stages of production.
