AR Rahman’s daughter, Khatija Rahman, married her fiancé, sound engineer Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed. The Grammy Award-winning songwriter shared a photo from Khatija and Riyasdeen’s wedding on his Instagram profile and wrote, “May the Almighty bless the couple… Thanking you in advance for your good wishes and your love.” The family photo from the wedding ceremony also features a portrait of AR Rahman’s late mother placed on stage. Khatija shared a photo from her wedding on Instagram and she wrote, “The most awaited day of my life. Married to my man Riyasdeen. Costume conceptualized and styled by Shruti Agarwal, costume assistant- Kriti Baid.”

In the comments section of AR Rahman’s post, singer Shreya Ghoshal wrote, “Heartfelt congratulations Khatija Rahman and Riyasdeen. God bless the beautiful couple.” Film producer Boney Kapoor commented, “Congratulations Mr and Mrs AR Rahman, wishing the couple a very happy and happy life.”
Khatija and Riyasdeen got engaged last December. She announced it with a message that read, “With the blessing of the Almighty, I am happy to announce to all of you my engagement to Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed, an aspiring entrepreneur and sound engineer wizkid. The engagement took place on December 29, my birthday in the presence of his close family and loved ones.
Khatija, like her father, is also a singer-musician. She sang a few titles, including Rock a bye baby from Mimi.
AR Rahman’s long list of awards includes six national awards and several Filmfare Bollywood and Southern film industry awards. He was honored with Padma Shri in 2000 and Padma Bhushan in 2010 for his contribution to Indian music and cinema. AR Rahman’s Grammy wins were two more trophies added to his awards legacy, headlined by the Academy Awards – he won two Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire in 2009.
AR Rahman also won two Grammy Awards in 2010 – Best Compilation Soundtrack for a Motion Picture (for Slumdog Millionaire) and Best Movie Song (for Jai Ho). He recently composed the music for the film Heropanti 2. Last year he composed music for films like Mimi, Arangi Re among others.
