False Positive Trailer: Hulu’s New Horror Movie Has Rosemary’s Baby vibe

Pregnancy can be terrifying at the best of times, making it doubly scary when something otherworldly happens. This is the hook of Hulu’s new horror movie, False positive.

The trailer, which was released on Wednesday, finds a happy couple played by Ilana Glazer (Wide city) and Justin Theroux (Leftovers) trying to get pregnant with the help of their kind and disarming doctor, played by former James Bond Pierce Brosnan. However, after an extremely frightening image appears on the sonogram machine, Glazer’s character Lucy realizes that something is wrong and her doctor is not who he claims to be.

As with any baffling pregnancy horror movie, it’s hard not to compare. False positivethe trailer of Rosemary baby. But it looks like False positive will go a little further off the rails than the somewhat similar 1968 horror film, especially since Lucy spends the second half of the trailer covered in blood and running with a knife. Then again, Lucy’s husband in the film is called Adrian, which is a direct reference to Rosemany’s executioner in the film, so this is certainly not a deviation from the comparisons.

False positive is directed by John Lee, whose previous work has focused primarily on comedy shows, including Wide city. Lee and Glazer also co-wrote the script for the film.

False positive is scheduled to premiere on Hulu on June 25.
