‘ET The Extra-Terrestrial’ and ‘Jaws’ Set for First-Ever Imax Release – Deadline

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment announced today that American audiences will soon be able to experience Steven Spielberg’s classics. AND the extra-terrestrial and Jaws on Imax screens nationwide for the first time. HEY will be released exclusively on Imax from August 12, to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary, with Jaws will be released on Imax and in RealD 3D from September 2.

AND the extra-terrestrial told the story of a troubled child who found the courage to help a friendly alien escape Earth and return to his home planet. Originally released in the summer of 1982, the film became the highest-grossing film of the year, winning four Academy Awards and nine Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, and has remained a universal favorite over the decades. who followed.

Based on Peter Benchley’s best-selling novel, Jaws saw a killer shark wreak havoc on a beach off Long Island, with a local sheriff, a marine biologist and an old sailor then teaming up to hunt the beast. The June 1975 thriller became the first true summer blockbuster and a cultural tsunami, also becoming the highest-grossing film of its year. The film earned a Best Picture Oscar nomination and won three statuettes, including one for John Williams’ iconic score. Almost five decades later, Jaws has become an inexorable part of global film culture, has inspired generations of filmmakers, and remains one of the most thrilling, terrifying, and unforgettable films of all time.

We could not imagine a more perfect way to celebrate the birthday of HEY and Universal-Spielberg’s first summer blockbuster, Jawsthan allowing audiences to experience these films in a way they never could before.

ET will open on August 12 against the Roadside Attractions thriller Criminal EmilyGkids animated picture Inu-ohthe comedy-drama of Gravitas Premiere Mack and Ritaand the romance of Strand Releasing, girl picture. Jaws‘ September 2 will include Focus Features’ comedy Honk for Jesus. Save your soul.
