Discover the interior of Saginaw’s Quality 10 cinema before it reopens
SAGINAW, MI – Movie buffs will soon be able to return to the closed Quality 10 Theater in Saginaw County to enjoy new releases on the big screen.
And that’s a Paul Glantz experience; co-founder / chairman of Emagine Entertainment, says it’s unmatched to stream a movie to your living room.
“Going to the movies, I think, is a different experience than watching a movie at home. You know, at home, the dog barks, the cell phone rings, ”he said. “In the theater it is designed to be two to three hours of pure escape… close yourself off from the whole world and just be immersed in the big picture and the big sound.”
Emagine Entertainment reopens the cinema, formerly Quality 10 GDX, on Friday, July 2.
The theater, which closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, is located at 3250 Kabobel Drive in Kochville Township of Saginaw County.
Films screened in theaters when it reopens Friday afternoon will include “Fast & Furious 9”, “The Boss Baby: Family Business”, “Cruella”, “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway Bunny”, “The Forever Purge” and “The bodyguard of the hitman’s wife.
Glantz said that Imagine Entertainment has “big plans in store to improve the venue,” and he’s optimistic moviegoers will be eager to return to the movies.
“Many aspire to return to this normalcy,” he said, while others may take a wait-and-see approach. “It will take a little while, I think, for our business to fully come back, but we opened ‘Fast & Furious 9’ last weekend and had the best weekend since March 2020, so I think that the guests will return. “
Quality 10 Powered by Emagine is Emagine Entertainment’s 11th theater in Michigan. The chain also has theaters in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota.
“We have a long history in Saginaw County. The first newly built theater we created was at Birch Run, ”Glantz said. “We love Saginaw County. We were greeted by people from Saginaw County so we thought this was a great opportunity for us.
The cinema, which boasts a 70-foot-wide, nearly four-story giant screen, opened in January 2014 and closed in March 2020. It was previously owned by Goodrich Quality Theaters, which filed for bankruptcy in court. Grand Rapides Federal District in February 2020.
Over the next few months, Emagine officials plan to make improvements to the site, including adding a full bar, Coca-Cola Freestyle and brick oven pizzas to its dealerships.
“You won’t notice a lot of differences at first, but we have big plans to improve ticketing systems and restaurant operations, and those should arrive no later than this fall,” Glantz said.
Glantz noted that there has been a cinema on the site for decades, with the existing cinema replacing the Saginaw 12 cinema several years ago, and Emagine Entertainment looks forward to continuing this tradition.
“This is a well established business in the community, there is no doubt about it, and we are excited to further serve the Saginaw community,” he said.
