DeBose’s victory comes after the Golden Globes ceremony couldn’t find a broadcast TV network, famous hosts, or even celebrities willing to walk the red carpet. Like HELLO ! Variety also noted that the award’s talent bookers could not guarantee the participation in the 2022 edition of one of Hollywood’s most important and famous personalities.

The Golden Globes, which bestowed accolades from 87 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, came under fire and sparked public scrutiny in March 2021 when more than 100 PR firms announced they would no longer cooperate with the ‘event. Prominent Hollywood figures also criticized the organization, leading the NBC network to call off its partnership.

After the scandal, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) made changes and, through their publicist, informed HELLO ! United States that “in October 2021, the HFPA added 21 new members, bringing the total membership to 103. Of these new members, 48% identify as women; 29% identify as Black; 24% identify as Asian; 29% identify as Latinx; 19% identify as Middle East / North Africa.
