Aaron Paul Forced To Pull Out Of Al Yankovic’s Weird Movie After COVID Diagnosis
Fans are eagerly awaiting Weird Al’s upcoming biopic, BIZARRE: The story of Al Yankovic, may recall that the feature actually started as a parody trailer on Funny or Die many years ago. Although Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will play the accordion parody artist, Weird Al was played by none other than Emmy winner Aaron Paul in the original video (you can watch it for yourself below). Speaking in a new interview, Paul has confirmed that he was originally supposed to make an appearance in the upcoming film, but at the last second was forced to pull out after… well, the same problem as many. have unfortunately had a positive COVID test in recent days.
“Funny story: Al asked me to do a cameo in it,” Paul revealed to CinemaBlend. “And I went to do it, and while I was waiting for my COVID test, they look at me and they’re like, ‘You have COVID.’ I’m like, ‘What?’ They’re like, ‘Yeah. You tested positive for COVID.’ I go, ‘Oh, no!’ So I couldn’t do it, and then I was out for about 10 solid days, I’ve never felt so sick in my life.
Paul added of the film: “I read that script years ago and it was so beautiful. It was just when they were digging around a bit to see if they could do this stuff, and I was really excited to finally see him kind of come together, and obviously Daniel [Radcliffe] It’s incredible. And so I think he’s absolutely going to crush it.”
Telling the story of Yankovic’s life, the film will star Daniel Radcliffe in the title role with Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Toby Huss and Julianne Nicholson as Yankovic’s parents and Rainn Wilson as the Dr. Demento. Eric Appel, who directed the Funny or Die parody video of the same name more than a decade ago, directed the film and co-wrote it with Yankovic.
Of the film, Radcliffe previously said, “I rarely get excited to see the stuff that I’m into, I get very, very excited to see that. It’s…I mean, you know, it’s absolutely crazy It’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever done I’m not sure exactly when it’s coming out hopefully later this year – but, you know, it’s something to look forward to .
BIZARRE: The story of Al Yankovic will premiere on The Roku Channel.
